There’s nothing better than decorating a cozy home for the holidays–songs of the season playing in the background, a fire blazing in the fireplace—to remind us of how blessed we are. And since our kids love to help with this joyful endeavor, how about providing a few cool crafts made just for them?
Allowing our kids to decorate their own bedrooms for the holidays gives them a sense of wonder and joy all their own, and it’s surprising how few supplies are actually needed. From green pipe cleaner Christmas trees and white foam ball snowmen to green and red construction paper chains, my kids rooms will be filled to the brim with holiday cheer this year.
I also found this great craft for them on www.kaboose.com so they can include their own “friends and family” in the holiday decorating cheer.
Reindeer Antlers for Stuffed Animals:
You’ll need: brown pipe cleaners, various colored pipe cleaners to match the stuffed animals heads, a wire cutter, a ruler.
Match a pipe cleaner color to your stuffed animal’s head. Cut the cleaner so it fits over the head and around the ears to hold it in place. Cut two brown pipe cleaners (about 3” long for a Beanie Baby size, about 8” long for a larger bear). Bend one brown cleaner in half, and slip on the headband, twist to hold it in place. Repeat with the other to form the second antler, bending so they each look like a “V”. Cut four smaller pieces of brown cleaner (about 1” for Beanie Baby size, 3” for larger size bear). Take one piece, fold it in half, and bend it over one side of one antler, twist to hold it in place. Repeat for the rest of the antlers. (See picture)
